Medical school, the dirty mistress

I'm thinking about joining SAA (Student Advocate Association, the support group for loved ones of DCOM students) but wondering if I can do so without getting pregnant. I'm not sure how these women do it. Several of them have small children and are having more while their husbands are in medical school. I don't understand why a medical student would want to have a baby in the house. Nick has literally NO free time through the week. He studies every minute he's not in class, except to visit the kitchen or bathroom and to sleep for a few hours. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to throw a baby into that mix. Not mention MY duties now that I'm sharing my marriage with the dirty mistress that is medical school. At least this dirty mistress comes with perks. I'm not going to think about the monetary implications of having children during medical school. Let's just say I wouldn't TRY to have a baby now. I'm sure life is different in years 3 and 4.

I have stuff I want to do this semester. At some point, at least once, I would like to get up to Cincinnati to be with my sister during my niece's bone marrow transplant. I don't know if I can get away from here, though. I really want to get involved in some volunteer work. I'm going to talk to my professors and see what kind of agencies are around here and what, if anything, I can do. I could get some work experience before my required internships and practica. Plus, it would give me a reason to get out into the community and socialize with the public. I think I need to make myself do that.

I really should get off my butt and get some stuff done. I'm procrastinating and have so much to do!

Oh!  If you're reading this and aren't a facebook fan of fabric.com, go become one for a discount. They have a code to get 13% off this week. I think there's a minimum purchase. I'm finally going to order the fabric for my chair project, and maybe my kitchen shade, and possibly that skirt, but I have to pick out some fabric for that one still.
