I need your help! I'm going to buy the fabric to slipcover our orange rocker online, and I can't decide on the pattern. I've narrowed it to five. The chair will be in our bedroom, which is decorated in light blue and dark brown. The chair will be far enough away from our bed, so the browns and/or blues won't need to match perfectly. I have a lot of brown in the room right now, so I like the idea of bringing in more blue. However, I plan to make some throw pillows, and I can bring in more blue that way. Plus, I would rather have varying shades of brown than varying shades of blue on a large scale. As I mentioned in an earlier post, nearly all of our textiles are solid colored, so I want to add some patterns.
Since there are a lot of pieces to work together for this project, I'm a little concerned about trying to match repeating patterns. I think the stripe would be the most challenging, but I could probably make the others work.
Here is the link to the pattern. (Our chair looks a lot like the chair in the picture, except it's in better shape.)
And here are the contenders:
Small paisley
Blue and brown paisley
Brown scroll
Brown and blue stripe
Leaves
EDIT::
I found another! This one is just the inverse of my favorite - the brown scroll. I like it because it's darker and would show less puppy dirt.
Inverse brown scroll
Brown scroll or small paisley.
ReplyDeleteI like the leaves.
ReplyDeleteI like the blue and brown paisley, I think it will match what you already have.
ReplyDeleteOH! I forgot to mention - we have a black-haired dog that loves this chair. So, I will probably end up going with one of the darker choices, even though my two favorites are the brown scroll and the blue and brown paisley. Then again, it's all washable.
ReplyDeleteNick doesn't like the leaves. I'm afraid of matching the stripes. So we've narrowed it to the first three.
Not fond of #1...too muddy? Drawn to the colors of #2. #3 is sweet, but may not match style of chair, unless you add some nailheads or something else very traditional? #4, not a fav. #5 is super fresh and of the moment (I've been dying to use that type print in a fresh green at our office, but no sale with the doc.) Soooo...#6 is my fav. :)
ReplyDeleteBEST OF LUCK!!! I would really love to recover our sofas and armchairs...maybe someday. :)
I'm trying to like #1, but I just don't. I added #6 after my last comment. Now I'm thinking #2 or #6. #2 would give me the opportunity to add another accent color in the room. I actually have imitation silk curtains that would work with that shade of green. Now it's a matter of deciding whether to stick with the brown and blue color palette or to add the green. #2 is just so pretty!
ReplyDelete#5 in a fresh green would look awesome in a sunny room! Maybe the doc just needs to see it to appreciate it?? :)
Thanks for indulging me, ladies.
Can't wait to see the end result! :)
ReplyDeletematch it with something you have already, seeing the chair already i would deffinatly say 1 of the darker choices because rollo does sit in it but i think it would be cool to match the pantry and the seats but then you would have to do the couch and other furniture to! hows that sanding coming on that 1 wooden chair? excited to see the new house!!
ReplyDeleteThe chair I'm recovering is in my bedroom, so it doesn't need to match the pantry that's in the dining room. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favorite, Christina?
